Mainland Chinese visitors who come to Macau on an individual basis drop by 26% in October, in comparison with the same month last year.

Figures released by the Statistics and Census Bureau show that there are in total 2,623,548 visitors in October, of which those from mainland China comprise 58.5%, Hong Kong 26.7% and South East Asia 5.5%.

There is an overall year-on-year increase of 8%, and that the proportion of visitors not staying overnight is 53.1%.

While most of the border checkpoints received an increase in the number of visitors, usage at the Macau Maritime Terminal has dropped by 5.3% in comparison with October 2007
