
Creating fun and fabulous memories while ringing in 2009, the New Year’s Eve countdown party at MGM GRAND Macau, “Grande Festa at Grande Praça” has no doubt become one of the hottest events in town. Nearly 1,000 party-goers celebrated the high life with the magnificent “Lights & Sounds” tribute at Grande Praça the party also featured international DJs, exciting performances, incredible food and specially designed cocktails.

Hours before Grande Praça was turned into a vibrant dance floor for the merry crowd, guests were savoring delectable New Year’s Eve culinary delights on the terraces of Aux Beaux Arts Brasserie and Rossio Restaurant, with the festive-themed European scene as the background. Those who opted for an Oriental treat were enjoying Michelin-class dishes at Imperial Court Chinese Restaurant as a prelude for the evening’s celebration.


As the party began, the 25-meter tall façade of European architectures at Grande Praça became a colossal silver screen for the “Lights & Sounds” projection which brought the history and traditions of Macau together through vivid images, paired with matching rhythms. The crowd was stoked when Brazilian dancers circled Grande Praça with their exotic Capoeira performance, an Afro-Brazilian dance which integrates movements from martial arts, tribal dances and acrobatics. Fire-spinning and break dancing sessions by local group B Boys were a few of the other live performances prepared to wow guests while DJs were rocking international club music and chart-topping hits that kept party-goers dancing through to the wee hours of the morning.
Excitement and anticipation for welcoming the New Year were heightened with every minute that went by around midnight. From “10” to “1,” the crowd counted down in unison lit up Grande Praça and everyone’s faces, as 2009 was met with cheers and a toast to the good life. With “Grande Festa at Grande Praça,” MGM GRAND Macau has raised the bar, setting a new standard for nightlife and parties that bring together guests with one goal in mind: living life to the fullest.
