Four casino operators in Macau announced their results in 2007 in the Government Gazette yesterday (30 April).
The net profit for SJM is MOP1.8 billion after tax and contribution, and MGM Grand Macau has made a loss of MOP700 million.
The net profit for Galaxy Casinos is MOP560 million, and Venetian Sands MOP1.58 billion.
A local accountant said that the profitability of Venetian Sands is the strongest in the four casino operators.
Leong Kam Chun (梁金泉) pointed out to Jornal Va Kio that Venetian Sands was able to make a profit of MOP10 out of MOP100, while SJM made MOP5.40 and Galaxy MOP4.70 only.
He said that the emphasis on providing commissions to brokers might have contributed to the reduction of profits of SJM and Galaxy.
He also praised Venetian Sands for being fully compliant to the Government’s financial report-making guidelines, while the reports presented by certain other companies had been ‘over-simplistic’.
